The Mystery

Ever unfolding, moving silently — now available as a seamy dark tale and other times elusive as a vanishing cloud of steam.
Rock sits inside hard marble — black encasing streaks of White Truth — Truth that looks to be exposed, freed from the cold, hard rock.
The smell of dank, cool, moist air seems to never end, setting the hairs on the back of my neck standing apart, beads of dew collecting and dripping onto my skin.
Sensations explode and swirl against the warmth of my body. Condensation becomes detached coolness — warmth seeking, chill retreating to the beast of the Mystery within the rock-hard walls that never move.
A light appears. It draws me to discover a crack in the wall around the corner, barely large enough to slip through — out of the cave and into the sunshine of the great desert floor.
Where We Are

At the Autumnal Equinox on September 22nd, there was a new moon at 29 degrees in the Constellation of Virgo, the Sun entered the sign of Libra, and we began Persephone’s descent into the UnderWorld, and into the mystery of Light and Dark.
The daylight hours have progressively gotten shorter, and the nights longer, enfolding our part of the Earth into a greater degree of darkness than is simultaneously present in the southern hemisphere, where the exact opposite of the elements of light and dark are being manifested.
During this season, we in the northern hemisphere continually move toward the apex of the Winter Solstice and December 21st. This is when the sun enters the sign of Capricorn, the ultimate day and night, the ultimate moments of light and darkness stretched to their infinitesimal limits of least and greatest.
It could be said that this action between the northern and southern hemispheres is a game of hide and seek, made up of the cycle of light and dark, where each alternately takes on the role of being the light and the shadow.
Within many systems that measure and categorize the world and the cosmos we live in, during this season, many are reporting some notable events.
Astrologically speaking, we have just had an unusual number of planetary alignments within the constellation of Scorpio, the sign of death and transformation, a place of some very dark waters that also allows for deep healing to occur. Scorpio is ruled by the demoted planet of Pluto, archetypal consort to Persephone.
Presently, these same planets have now burst into the extremely fiery Constellation of Sagittarius, led by Venus on November the 18th, followed by the Sun itself on the 23rd, the day before Thanksgiving, and then by Jupiter on Thanksgiving Day. In December, Mars will join them on the 7th, and Mercury on the 9th, making for a total of five planets and the Sun making their way through Sagittarius at the same time.
Meanwhile the planet Pluto entered Sagittarius way back in January of 1995 and has been taking its own slow approach to the Galactic Core said to be located at 26 degrees and 54 minutes of Sagittarius, a place within the Milky Way. The Galactic Core is considered to be the Sun of our Sun, a place that is the source of most of the gravitational energy present in our galaxy and containing the mass of four million suns. Referencing an ephemeris, Pluto will arrive at an exact meeting point with the Galactic Core on December 28th and 29th. This event, by all measurements is significant.
The Sun itself will be within the realm of the Galactic Core, as it is every year at this time, between December 18th and 19th. This year also, by December 18, there is an alignment of the planets Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, and Pluto with the Sun and Moon in Sagittarius. Here, they will all conjunct, with Pluto at the Core — a place Pluto has not been reported to be since before the American Revolutionary War!
Inside another realm, the November 28th newsletter from Mitch Battros reported an unusual sunspot, #979, coming from the eastern limb of the sun. This was confirmed by the NOAA/NASA Space Weather Center. According to the report, Owen Bennedick, a 44 year veteran with a special interest in solar activity, has been using high-powered equipment at his Wappa Falls Observatory to observe what could be the largest solar flare ever recorded. He says that this sunspot could be 25 times the size of the Earth.
Be alert to the possible effects of this latest flare within the next 5 to 10 days. It could mean technology failures, and in Mitch Battros’ world of “Solar Rain” could also bring earth upheavals. (www.earthchangestv.com)
In a shaman’s world everything is a character in a stage play and it exerts its influence on the outcome regardless if it takes a major or minor role.
The Galactic Core is located within the Milky Way and may be the point from which our universe was birthed. In the Mayan system of values and according to the Mayan calendar, on November 24th, the day after Thanksgiving, the Earth marked our way into the final leg of the Fourth Sun, toward entrance into the Fifth World.
In this Mayan system of Suns or cycles, the Fourth cycle or Sun has been exclusively masculine in energy and has been ruled by the element of water. The previous Sun was of feminine energy and ruled by air. The Fifth Sun is scheduled to arrive in the area of 2012 on the Winter Solstice, some 6 years away. This world or cycle is said to be the harmony between the masculine and feminine whose energy will be ruled by the element of ether. Each cycle is said to last 5,200 years.
We will not attain the Fifth World while being invested in the status quo. Mayan elders and teachers tell us that between now and 2012, we will witness the “confrontation of negative and positive forces.” We need not go far to see the evidence of this conflict and confrontation in the world and I would believe also in our personal relationships. There is such proof in the political world of the U.S. where in the last election the Democrats unseated the mass conservative, right wing Republican majority in Congress. In addition, the Evangelical Christian movement has been rocked by the outing of their gay leader Ted Haggard affecting millions of evangelicals and Christian conservatives.
More to the point of attaining anything that may look like the Mayan Fifth Cycle for each and everyone of us, it is clear that it is time for a major re-hauling; a re-tooling of our individual belief systems. Whatever we believe to be off limits as subject to any change is where we will be challenged to the extreme. The harder we resist looking at these areas, and the tighter we hold onto what we have always believed in, the more difficult it will be to move forward.
Like it or not, Earth Mother is telling us with very plain action to pay attention. Earth’s seismic maps have been lit up in ways that show us how Earth is shaking things up in a major way. The climate change and subject of global warming has finally gotten the attention of even the Bush administration. We are told that unless we do something different than what we have been doing, this planet will not survive past the next ten years.
And this is the point, we cannot continue to move forward exclusively through outer technology and expect something different to show up. There has to be a change in consciousness for the majority of the population in order for the 100th monkey principle to take hold.
According to the Mayans, the Fifth Sky or Sun means to vibrate on a more subtle energy held by the element of ether, somewhat like the difference between an engine that clackity clacks and the one that purrs, one that uses petroleum for fuel rather than extracting pure forms of energy right out of the air we breathe. I will have more to say coming up about subtle energy in the next several posts.
What does all this signify? For some it seems not to have any importance. They pay no attention to things such as Pluto, the Galactic Center, the Mayans Calendar or anything beyond those belief systems that they have been taught. However, there are those who are aware that something is happening; they sense a difference in the political climate as well as the global environment. Their relationships seem to be changing, in fact their very lives are changing and they may not be able to pinpoint any reason for it.
You may fit into either one of these categories. What may further distinguish you is how you are or have been responding to this subject — whether you dismiss it all as pure balderdash, or you just note, observe, and relate to it in your own way.
For myself, there have been very many changes in my life and environment. Innumerable systems I once held as sacred have been shattered — one could call it ‘shattered dreams’. What I have realized is that what has actually been shattered are my belief systems, those rules I was taught to live by and by which my entire thought processes were ruled, only to find out that none of them work any longer, and in fact my attempt to stick to them can get me into trouble, they keep me stuck and unable to move forward.
As we come to the end of this Fourth World of the Mayans, it has been my observation that time has altered. At random times, I sense having more of it or less of it. One day last week in fact, I kept gaining two hours every time I glanced at a clock. When I thought it was noon, the clock showed 10 am, when I was sure it was 2 pm the clock showed noon. This phenomenon continued throughout the entire day and on into the evening hours, a most remarkable day for me.
The single constant I have experienced, which is certainly not mine exclusively, is that of ‘change’. Change has been present before the birth of the universes. It was out of this state of constant change that came ‘God’s” words “Let There Be Light”. It was out of the darkness that birthed the light. Sometimes I must remind myself that first was the Darkness and out of that came a change, called Light.
Change will continue to take place, it will not wait for us to catch up, and it is up to us to stay abreast of it if our interest is in our personal spiritual evolution. Certainly this is a great challenge, one that many do not answer. What I understand today is that if we continue to cling to systems and beliefs that want to keep us static, those are the very things that are against the core of our existence — that of constant changing and evolving energy.
The analogy of gestation alone provides us with the clues. We underwent nine months of constant incredible fractalized reproduction of cell after cell, that science calls mitosis, in an environment of warmth, comfort, and protectiveness, only to be violently spit out through the birth canal after those nine months, and into what seem to be a foreign and cruel environment of the outer world. How we learned to adapt and keep up with the growth process innately built into our biological and spiritual system may actually be the determining factor of the difference between ‘life and death.’
It is the realm of light and dark, where everything exists, that we will begin to explore further during this season leading up to the Winter Solstice.
May you and all beings know the light of yourself within the depths of your darkness.
Con Amore,
~ mek
